Climbing enthusiasts in Aroostook County must look a little further for rock and ice climbing opportunities. Day trips can be made north and east into New Brunswick and Quebec for both traditional top roping and sport climbing. South of the County one can find abundant climbing destinations. In Baxter State Park Katahdin's multi-pitch routes await the adventurous, while further south in Clifton beginner and expert climbers alike will find exciting challenges and beautiful views.
Closer to home, climbers can practice their skills on the indoor climbing wall at the University of Maine in Presque Isle. Gentile Hall is open to the public and anyone can try their hand at the variety of routes found in the climbing gym. Here one can also sign up for University run trips to other destinations as well as connect with other climbers anxious to take their adventures vertical.
